Visit this website to download a lesson plan and PowerPoint for names of buildings (Geography/ICT/MFL). Scroll down to lesson 3. Note error spelling the verb 'to practise' on slide 2 of presentation. You will need to enter the French words for the places, the PPT currently has the English. This fits unit 2 of the QCA scheme of work.

DfES KS2 Languages Framework. Download the full framework. Very useful overview of the learning objectives for Years 3-6.
QCA NEW! Download a scheme of work for French (non statutory). Choose from drop-down list. The 2000 Scheme of Work has been re-written and extended. Units 1-12 are for Years 3-4, units 13-24 for Years 5-6.
Nacell website: national advisory centre on early language learning (includes some free French materials).
The Teacher Resource Exchange (TRE) is a moderated database of resources and activities created by teachers. Resources are free to use and you can also add your own resources to share with other teachers. Resources by Wendy Adeniji are particularly good, as an example, look at her resource entitled 'French songs for primary children'.
Chansons Collection of really good French songs to use in the classroom.
ICT ideas Excellent ideas for using websites to promote language learning. Click on 'Useful ICT ideas, effective language lessons'.
For example, how to revise colours, gender, clothes, French sounds through the use of song, see review of Belette website.
The song 'Dans sa maison, un grand cerf' could be used to introduce pets, it would be quite easy to sing additional verses where other animals arrive to hide from the hunter. It also shows pupils how to do actions to accompany the song and would be easy to learn.
